"BENNY BENNY" is the title of this painting. When I was in my teens and twenties I met a great fellow who became a very good friend. His name is Greg Louis. Greg was and still may be for all I know, the son of Benny Louis. I don't remember ever call Mr. Louis, Benny Benny but I do remember him very well. He was a used furniture shop owner on Johnson Street, I think. That would be in Victoria BC were I was raised. The man was a most interesting person. I once was in the shop with Greg and a man came in to ask Benny what a certain dining room table and chairs cost. Benny gave him the price and the man said " how much will it be tomorrow?" Benny said you have to come back then and see. This was typical of Benny Benny. The painting is not big but it measures approx. 9"x14" unframed. |
