This painting was the first Church that I painted here in New Mexico. This, is what it looked like many years ago. Perhaps, if my memory servers me correctly, 1987.
The Village of Tijeras. The word tijeras  in Spanish means scissors and is located  just off the I 40 East of Albuquerque in the canyon between the Sandia Mountains and the Manzano Mountains. Incidentally, Sandia means watermelon. The Sandia mountains are formed in pink granite on the west face. The top and back are limestone. During the summer when the sun sets the mountain glows pink with green trees on top.
The word Mazano means apples. They grow well on that mountain range.
This painting was sold many years ago and I do not remember the size other than it was about 11"x 18".
