LORETTO CHAPEL,

  Loretto chapel is a most remarkable church in Santa Fe. It has a spiral staircase that boggles the mind, just trying to figure out how it could be done. The rock work on the exterior shows fantastic masonry skills. At one time large trees grew to the right of the chapel and after they died wood carvers scrupled the characters you see there. This is a common thing in New Mexico and you see it done in many church yards.
